Adam and Josh used to visit family friends who owned an arcade-style stand-up electronic basketball game. Sometimes the game would not count a made shot, creating frustration in everyone who played. Finding a way around this, they would often grab a chair, place it alongside the outer net, reach in, and pull the net on the basket, causing numerous fake shots to register. They justified this by saying that the game was cheating them out of numerous points. Gradually, everyone just began referring to the game itself as "Cheapskate".
