Garou: Mark of the Wolves is an arcade fighting game that Adam plays via emulation.
When starting the last fight against the boss, Kain, each character makes a statement. Kain's is a bit longer than normal and nearing the end of it, says something that sounds to Adam and Josh like "midget". Comically insulted, Adam said in an almost apathetic response "Don't call me a midget..." Adam continues to respond in kind to this day.
Adam's character of choice is Hotaru Futaba. Before executing her super moves, she says a phrase in Japanese that, to Adam, sounds like "Happy birthday, man!". He finds this amusing given that her birthday present to them is pain.
Kain, the final boss, has a fiery purple projectile move. When using it, he exclaims something that, to Adam and Josh, sounds like "Sharp snake!" or "Salt snake!". Either phrase is acceptable and, upon repetition, are interchangeable.
After winning a battle versus Rock Howard, Hotaru says "Why the hang dog? You can't escape yourself!". Adam and Josh find this awkward phrasing rather humorous and enjoy repeating it. For an unknown reason, they began saying "What's the hang dog?" instead of "Why".
