Adam and Josh often played many games in the Metal Slug franchise via emulation.

Hippies

In each game, the player rescues POWs for points and power-ups. Because the POWs have been in captivity for so long, they're wearing only rags and have very long hair and beards. Because of their appearance, Adam and Josh labeled them as "hippies" and the title has stuck.

Quotes

"A-Laser gun!"

One of the weapons that can be collected in Metal Slug 2 and beyond is a laser gun. The game has voice samples naming each of the weapons when collected, and the voice sample of the laser gun is pronounced in a slightly odd way. To Adam and Josh, it sounds like the sample has an extra "a" in front of the word laser, making it sound like "a-Laser gun!".

"Ooh-ho-ho... BIG!"

One of the numerous items that be collected for points are various types of food. In Metal Slug 2 and beyond, if the player collects enough food in a short enough period of time, they suddenly become obese, making their movements slower and jumps more labored. Instead of ducking, the player sits instead. When the transformation happens, an audio sound plays saying "Ooh-ho-ho... BIG!" in an amused tone. Adam and Josh highly enjoy this and repeat it when prompted.

"Rocket Lowncher/Grenade Lowncher!"

Two of the weapons that can be collected are a rocket launcher and a grenade launcher. The audio samples for these weapons in Metal Slug X sound a little off, as "launcher" is pronounced as "lowncher". Adam and Josh enjoy this mispronunciation and repeat it when referring to any kind of launcher even outside the game.
