Back in the early 2000s after taking a handful of digital pictures, Adam decided to construct a small website on which to display them. In a playful mood, he decided to design the site in the style of a terribly designed Geocities site from the mid 90s. As obnoxious animated gifs were a staple of these sites, he found an animated gif creator online and made three gifs that were blocks of text:
1. A "COOOL" that rotated in place
2. "enter text here" scrolling like a marquee (intended to be as if he left the default text there)
3. "Rotating" that like the first gif rotated in place
After finishing the site and showing it to Josh, Josh became struck by the appropriateness of the word "rotating" that was itself rotating. The two of them began to refer to that notion as "the ultimate truth" because its very existence could not be any more true.
From that point on, any time either of them heard the word "rotating" mentioned, they would make sure to point out that it is the Ultimate Truth.
