Characters
Agnew
One of Shana's companions is a skeleton named Shiro. This name reminded Josh of Spiro, as in Spiro Agnew. Because of this, Josh began to refer to Shiro as "Agnew", and the name stuck.
Sophie Carwash
One of the characters is named Sophie Sawallisch. Josh noticed that her last name sounded similar to "carwash", and because her real last name is difficult to say, began referring to her as "Sophie Carwash" instead.
Quotes
"Hail Pork."
The first season is succeeded by a number of comedic shorts. In one of these shorts, Wilhelmina is prepping to buy groceries, including pork. Her companion, the rarely speaking Tiamat, reacts with "Hail Pork." This quote greatly resonated with Adam, Josh, and one of Adam's friends, such that they will all occasionally message each other with it, even completely unprompted.
"He said 'homo'." *Points*
At the beginning of the first few episodes of the first season, there is a brief exposition acquainting the viewer with the world in which the series takes place. During this exposition, one of the phrases almost sounded to Josh like the word "homo". In a fake tattling manner, Josh pointed to the screen and said to Adam, "He said homo.", to which Adam just grumbled and shook his head. Since then, any time a phrase is said that sounds remotely close to "homo", Josh is compelled to tattle on the speaker and point it out to Adam.
Zoiks!
There is a character named François Auric, who has shaggy hair that covers most of his face. Because of this, Adam and Josh started saying "Zoiks!" whenever he appeared, referencing Shaggy from Scooby Doo.
Gizzards
An episode early in the first season included many statues of lanky birds. For reasons unknown, Josh greatly disliked these statues, which he collectively referred to as "gizzards". Whenever they appeared on screen, he would mutter about them under his breath, with Adam merely hearing "...amn gizzards...". Josh's enmity was later revealed to be justified when the statues came to life and caused trouble.
"Oh, so it's like THAT, is it?"
Sorath and Tiriel are a brother and sister duo that serve as villains early on in the first season. It is heavily implied that the two have a incestuous relationship, with Tiriel frequently being overly affectionate with Sorath. The first time this was revealed, Josh responded with "Oh, so it's like THAT, is it?" in a mockingly disgusted tone. Since then, any time even the slightest hint of an improper relationship is shown, Josh responds with this phrase.
Josh Snickering at the Goblet
There is a character named Samuel Demantius who is contracted with Zirnitra, who appears in the form of a small chalice. Since the items the other Flame Hazes have contracts with are generally larger, Josh found the tinyness of the chalice particularly humorous. Adding to this, Samuel always held the chalice in the middle of his outstretched palm, seemingly emphasizing how small it was. Josh associated the size of the chalice with Samuel's manliness and would snicker every time the chalice appeared on screen.
Huffy Face
One of Adam and Josh's favorite characters is Matake Ogata, who has a more prominent role in the second season than any other. At one point, Ogata gets frustrated about something and pouts, slightly puffing out her cheeks. Adam and Josh found this expression incredibly endearing, and dubbed it the "huffy face". Any time a character makes a similar expression, Adam and Josh refer to it as their "huffy face".
