"I will stab you with my beard!"

In 2001, Adam and Josh occasionally watched The New Adventures of Madeline on television. During the first season episode "Madeline at the Ballet", Adam and Josh were struck by Master Gaston de Valmont, the ballet teacher, and his appearance. He was oddly angular and his face was mostly nose. The most prominent feature, though, was de Valmont's extremely sharp van dyke beard. The tip of his beard tapered to an acute point, so much so that it looked rather dangerous. Gaston had a rather gruff temperament, which Adam and Josh attributed to the homicidal tendencies of his beard, particularly its predilection for stabbing. Gaston was constantly using every ounce of his willpower to prevent his beard from killing, hence his perpetual ill temper. Adam and Josh imagined Gaston always on the verge of being overtaken by his beard's bloodlust, occasionally jutting his chin forward in the direction of people but stopping short from any actual mayhem accompanied by short grunts of exertion.

Josh imagined scenarios wherein Gaston, especially annoyed by someone, threatened to allow his beard to take control, yelling at his victim to comply, followed by "Or I will stab you with my beard!"

Gaston's plight amuses Adam and Josh to this day.
