Adam and Josh's first computer came with a series of entertainment CDs. One of the CDs, named "Speed", contained many games related to the measurement of speed. One game, narrated by a proper sounding British woman, had the player choose which object among four choices was the fastest. The narrator would name off each object as a picture of it was displayed as one of the choices. One of these choices in particular was a catamaran. The British woman seemed to put more emphasis on saying "cat-a-ma-ran" than any of the other objects and this didn't go unnoticed. Adam and Josh quickly took to pointing out any appearance of any catamaran in the same manner as the narrator.

Because the game chose the four objects randomly each round, there would occasionally be duplicates to choose from, sometimes resulting in two or three "CAT-A-MA-RAN"s. This further cemented the word's place in their hearts. To this day, any mention of a catamaran still yields the same reaction.
