Magnus Ver Magnusson is an Icelandic powerlifter and strongman. Circa 2000, Adam and Josh caught some of the Strongman Competition on TV late one night. Interested only in the freakish aspect of it rather than genuine interest, they marveled at the size and strength of the competitors. One man in particular stood out as the favorite to win and so caught Adam and Josh's attention - Magnus Ver Magnusson. Adam and Josh started calling him Magnus Von Magnusson (why the name was changed is unclear) and determined that his incredible strength was due to the fact that he was a time traveler.

Magnus Von Magnusson is from an indeterminate point in the future, where workouts and training are much more efficient, explaining why his skills and abilities are superior to those of his competitors in our time. His bleached hair is a side effect of the time traveling process and the futuristic looking sunglasses he wears are in fact to protect his eyes from the effects as well. His purpose for coming back in time is to win as many World's Strongest Man titles as he can in order to impress upon his peers, and subsequently the rest of the world, the importance of his own training methods and bodybuilding in general.


Magnus's ultimate goal is to convince as many people as possible to adopt his lifestyle. Whether his goal is based upon some vague distant threat that the people would need preparation for or just his own personal agenda is unknown.

Incidentally, a paradox occurs. Magnus Von Magnusson was sent back in time by his group of Strongmen in order to spread his methods in the past so more Strongmen will exist in his time. However, the unsatisfying numbers of Strongmen in the future are what caused him to go back in time in the first place.

Magnus has won four World's Strongest Man titles to date.
