Magnum, P.I. was a crime drama television show from the 1980's starring Tom Selleck. Adam and Josh would often watch episodes of the show with their parents. Years later, Adam and Josh noticed that when the show was filmed, it was in fashion for men to wear particularly short shorts, unlike current fashion dictates. The characters on the show, including Magnum himself, wore such shorts. As such, Adam and Josh began referring to all shorts of that fit as "Magnum Shorts". Nowadays, Adam and Josh mostly see Magnum shorts in anime from the 1980's.
