GoldenEye 007 is a 1997 first-person shooter video game developed by Rare for the Nintendo 64 video game console.

"Kill him. Kill him."

One of the villains in the game is named Colonel Arkady Ourumov. In one level, Bond encounters Ourumov and many armed soldiers in a hallway. Ourumov commands his soldiers to kill Bond as he himself runs. The dialog reads "Kill him." Adam and Josh enjoyed the lack of exclamation point and considered the statement to be rather matter-of-fact. At times, the AI controlling Ourumov would be unable to navigate its way through the throng of soldiers in the hallway. This would often cause the phrase "Kill him." to be repeated until he could break free. Adam and Josh latched onto this and often repeated the phrase in a Russian accent along with its appearance on screen.

Alternate Weapon Names

Adam and Josh had different names for some of the weapons used in the game. One of the guns, named a Klobb, was referred to as the "staple gun" because, to them, it looked like a staple gun. When it fired, it almost sounded like staples were hitting its target.

Another weapon was named the DD44 Dostovei. Josh didn't concern himself with the correct pronunciation and just began referring to the gun as a "doe-shovel". This gun is one of Adam and Josh's favorite weapons in the game.

Beating Posts

In the "Archive" level, there are numerous posts sticking out of the ground that are surrounded by dust, dirt, and grime. The pixelation of the graphics, coupled with Adam and Josh's imagination, made it seem to them that, rather than dirt, there was blood, vomit, and other bodily fluids that were on the ground by the posts. As such, Adam and Josh began referring to them as "beating posts".

Gregg is in DK Mode

One of the cheat codes for the game allows the sprites to be put in "DK mode". DK stands for Donkey Kong. When this mode is activated, the character's arms, hands, and head are all greatly enlarged to resemble the proportions of Donkey Kong. One of Adam and Josh's friends has been known to have a rather large head and long arms. Either their friend, or his brother, noticed that he resembled the sprites in DK mode, and joked that Gregg was in DK mode himself. This concept has stuck.

Henchmen Fun

Adam and Josh noticed that many of the henchmen resembled certain celebrities. Some of the blond henchmen seemed to strongly resemble comedian Jay Mohr. Some of the black haired henchmen seemed to strongly resemble Moe of Three Stooges fame, most likely due to their bowl cuts. Adam and Josh frequently address these henchmen by their alternate names, sometimes with plurals, and apologize to them as they get killed.

When the henchmen die, they make a variety of noises. Adam and Josh latched onto one of these noises that they felt sounded like "yacht!". Any time there is a death scream in any media, Adam or Josh will likely yell "yacht!" in reaction.

The henchmen have many death animations that can occur when they die. One of these has the henchman tossed backwards, twisting as he flies, and landing on his stomach. In one particular level, Adam or Josh was hiding under a set of stairs as henchmen flooded down to kill Bond. Bond fired up through the stairs killing all of them. As the henchmen died, many of them would do the previously described motion, often having most of their bodies hanging rigidly over the edge of the steps. Adam and Josh noticed that, at that particular angle, it looked like the dead henchmen had their legs crossed at the ankles. They found this amusing, noting that the henchmen even had to die properly. This death animation would often be accompanied by the aforementioned "yacht!" death scream.

Infinite Ammo Fun

Another cheat code enabled infinite ammo. Adam and Josh took joy in stacking dozens upon dozens of remote mines or C4 charges for one massive explosion. On one occasion, while using the invisibility cheat code in addition, Adam came across the villain Jaws while in the "Aztec" level. Adam began stacking C4 in the hallway slightly off to the side of Jaws, hoping to kill him with the ensuing explosion. Triggering the explosion slowed the frame rate down so much that it took an exceedingly long time for the smoke to begin to clear. Once it did begin to clear, however, an unfazed, unharmed Jaws emerged, slowly and dismissively waving the smoke away from his face. Adam and Josh were in tears laughing at not only Jaws's survival but at his sheer disregard for his attempted murder.

Moting a Level

Moting a level consists of fully dominating a level or task in the game one is playing. What this dominance consists of varies from game to game. Moting is slang for the term "demoting", indicating that you have demoted the level or task and that you are now above it in status.

In terms of GoldenEye, moting a level consists of shooting out every light, completely destroying every crate, barrel, computer, vehicle, etc. (including the exploded husks), and killing every enemy. In short, killing or destroying everything that can be killed or destroyed. Note that accomplishing the level's actual in-game objectives is not required to mote it.

Natalya's Alternate Names

One of the Bond girls in GoldenEye is named Natalya. She accompanies you as an NPC in multiple levels of the game. Adam started calling Natalya "Natalie" for no particular reason other than that it was an American version of Natalya. Furthermore, Josh began calling Natalya "Nats". Either names are used in place of her real name to the extent that she is no longer ever referred to by her actual name.

Slapper Pattern

One of the options for a weapon in GoldenEye is "unarmed" or just a basic karate chop. When using this option, Bond will chop his arm diagonally either down to the right or down to the left. More often than not, there seems to be a pattern where Bond slaps twice down the left followed by once down to the right. This pattern is consistent enough for Adam and Josh to associate it with any other hand to hand combat.
