The Chrono series is very highly regarded by Adam and Josh. As such, the games have been played through many times, causing numerous corruptions to arise.
Crono's Juice
During Crono's incarceration after his trial, he is put in solitary confinement pending execution. His room consists of a bed and a cup. The player is able to drink from the cup to replenish life. In a fit of playfulness, Adam or Josh began to repeatedly drink from the cup. They would either stand and drink over and over or drink, walk away, and then rush back to drink again as if Crono were addicted. If waiting the three days until execution rather than breaking out, they would pass the time with this behavior.
Crono's Treasure Sense
Due to Adam and Josh being so intimately aware of the game, especially treasure locations, they could walk into a room or through an area and find everything reasonably quickly. Putting themselves in the characters' shoes, they tried to imagine how absurd it was that Crono was able to find treasure so easily. They attributed this to Crono having a sixth sense for treasure.
Crono and Frog's Hick Voice
As with many RPGs, the protagonist, Crono, is silent. Wanting to assign some voice to him, Adam and Josh would say "Yeah!" in a hick Kermit-ish voice when Crono pumped his arm after a battle victory. Somehow, this voice also got attached to Frog, particularly the phrase "Mayhaps a hidden door lurks nigh? Let us search the environs."
Crono Getting Butthurt
During the scene in which Frog uses the Masamune to open the path Magus's castle, Frog requests the Masamune from Crono who takes it out, rams it into the ground in front of Frog, and rejoins the rest of the party. Adam and Josh were confused as to why Crono felt the need to dramatically plunge the sword into the ground rather than simply handing it over. They felt that Crono resented the fact that Frog was taking charge of the situation rather than letting Crono lead, and that giving up the Masamune was symbolic of this. Adam and Josh then narrated Crono's actions as follows:
Crono: *taking out the sword* Fine! Take it! I don't want it anymore! Here! *slams it into the ground* JEEZ! *rejoins the group and shoves his hands in his pockets*
Doan is the elder of a group of survivors in 2300AD. At some point, Doan walks the length of the screen at a pace faster than the animation of his feet would suggest. One time, Adam and Josh took particular notice of this, impressed at his speed considering his age. Thereafter, any time Doan was seen walking, Adam and Josh would often remark admiringly "Doan hauls." This eventually brought with it the impression that Doan was an impatient man.
Supporting this impression is Doan's actions at the end of the game when the various characters meet at the millennial fair to return to their respective times. Doan stands by the time portal while Lucca expresses her despair that Robo has to leave. As Robo and Marle attempt to comfort Lucca, Doan walks into the portal without saying a word. Taking this as a sign of his boredom and impatience, Adam and Josh imagined Doan saying with disgust "Aah, this is makin' me sick..." as he leaves.
Adam and Josh would often sleep over at a family friend's house. One child of the family, Jeremy, would frequently sleep with his knees folded under him, his face on the floor, and his butt raised in the air. Adam and Josh found this to be amusing.
Years later, when playing Chrono Trigger, they noticed that Frog's sprite for when he slept or was knocked out was in a similar pose to Jeremy sleeping. Finding this hilarious, they remarked "Frog sleeps like Jeremy!". Henceforth, any time anyone else has been seen in a similar position, Adam and Josh say that they are "sleeping like Jeremy."
"Taahm warp!"
Lavos casts multiple spells when in his final form. One of these spells invokes a shifting between multiple time periods, bringing with it attacks applicable to each one. The name of the spell appears as "Time warp..." when it is cast. No other announcement of a spell or status effect in the game has an ellipses at the end, prompting Adam and Josh to attach extra significance to this case. Once again using a hick accent, they would yell "Taahm warp!" whenever the status change was displayed.
"What to do!"
One of the bosses in the game is named Heckran. Adam and Josh noticed that the animation for Heckran turning side to side during the fight made it look as though he was rubbing his hands together in anticipation. Playing with this, they would say eagerly "What to do! What to do what to do!" each time Heckran changed directions.
Adam and Josh would normally use the default character names. When they didn't, they tended to name their characters the first word that came to mind. Some examples are:
Crono - Oval
Marle - Roast
Robo - Trout/McMan
Magus - Luigi
Ayla - Exxon
Epoch - Volvo
In the early 2000's, Josh became aware of an anime series titled Chrono Crusade. When first coming across it, Josh saw the misspelled title in the original logo that read "Chrno Crusade", and so he began pronouncing it "Corno". Carrying this over to the Chrono series, Josh often referred to Chrono Cross as "Corno Cross", a practice he continues to this day. It interesting to note that Josh does not use this phrasing for Chrono Trigger.
One of the town names in Chrono Cross is Marbule. When initial details of the game were getting out, the translation had the name as "Mabule" and Adam and Josh stuck to that name out of stubbornness. When playing the game, the player alternates between two dimensions. The game specifies the name of each town the player is in with the suffixes "home" or "another". Adam and Josh started saying the names of the towns in a somewhat gruff, caveman way due to the curt nature of the phrasing, as if "home" were more of an indication that that was where the speaker lived rather than a label of the dimension in which it was located. Noting that many of the towns had somewhat tribal sounding names, Adam and Josh took their favorite, Mabule, and began referring to it as "Mabule - home" in the aforementioned manner. This eventually spread to other words with a similar sound where Adam and Josh would tack on "home" to complete the phrase. For example, the operating system "Ubuntu" is often referred to as "Ubuntu - home".
During the game, the player makes use of various sailing vessels to travel overseas. When approaching a port on the overworld map, the player presses a button to dock and the game takes control, finishing docking the boat for them. Adam and Josh noticed that the game would automatically turn the boat around and back it into the port. Doing what they do, Adam and Josh determined that it was Serge who insisted upon docking the boat in that particular manner rather than just allowing it to come to a stop with the front facing inland. They assumed that the rest of the passengers were protesting, doing their best to assure Serge that it was perfectly acceptable to dock front first rather than taking the extra time to turn around. Adam and Josh pictured a defiant Serge standing at the helm, turning the wheel with his head held high and his eyes closed in superiority. Adam and Josh would act this out, saying "Oh no. Oh nononononono." in a tone that implied that they (Serge) knew better. It was understood that Serge, who never spoke in the game, was not actually saying this - merely that this message could be inferred by his actions.
